The story

It opens low, almost below hearing — a sub-bass hum that just sits there, pressing from underneath like water at depth. Somewhere above it, an EBow guitar starts to swell, one long note bending into reverb until it stops sounding like a string and starts sounding like weather.

Around the second minute the drums arrive, but they never really arrive — soft-attack kit hits with the edges sanded off, IDM glitch fragments stuttering just under the surface of the mix. No snap, no click, nothing to grab onto. A muted bell decays somewhere in the reverb tail, detuned enough to feel wrong in a way that fits.

Midway through, a sonar ping cuts a clean line through the murk, and for a moment the low end drops out entirely — a sub-drop on the downbeat that feels like the floor giving way. Rain and vinyl crackle sit under everything, a field recording of a rooftop that may or may not exist.

It closes the way it opened, drone first, drums dissolving back into hiss. Nothing resolves. The chords stay unanswered, the way the title says, and the last thing you hear is the sub-bass, still there, still pressing.

For 3am rooftop smoke breaks, late train windows, insomnia at your desk, or any rainy night you want to feel underwater in the city.
