The story

There's no pulse here, just pressure. A sub-bass sits under everything from the first second, constant and heavy, the kind you feel in the chest before you notice it in the ears. Over it, distant Gregorian voices surface like they're coming through a wall from another room, sacred and slightly out of reach, never fully formed into words.

The grand piano enters soft, felt-hammer touches spaced far apart, each note left to decay into the reverb until it's more room than instrument. Fretless bass slides underneath, singing and loose, mwah-toned, moving like it's searching for a note rather than landing on one. Nothing here resolves cleanly, it just keeps sliding forward.

Around the middle the violin tremolo tightens, bowed and sustained, adding a thin edge of tension without ever sharpening into urgency. Detuned bells ring out low and pitched down, more shadow than chime, scattered unevenly across the stereo field. The chant returns briefly, thinner now, folded back into the fog of pads.

By the close everything thins out into hollow room tone, a distant hum where the piano and bass have gone quiet and only the sub-bass and a faint choir echo remain. It doesn't end so much as fade past the threshold it built, leaving the space open rather than closed.

Late-night wind-down, meditation or breathwork, sleep transition, background for writing or dream journaling at 3am.
