The story

The chapel was decommissioned with the rest of the station, but nobody thought to silence it. Its recorded offices still play on schedule to six empty pews and a porthole full of slowly wheeling stars. Without air the sound should not carry, and yet the hull hums with it, chant conducted through titanium ribs like prayer through bone. The abbot who made the recordings died believing no one would ever hear them again; he was half right. Ground crews picking up the leak on old receivers log it as interference. The station knows better.

Gregorian Void suspends that broadcast as monastic space ambient at 80 BPM in F# Minor. Chant loops drift with their consonants eroded away, leaving pure vowel-tone that behaves like light in zero gravity — direction optional, warmth intact. Beneath them a subharmonic drone stands in for the station's slow rotation, and sparse bell-like tones mark the offices nobody attends. The pulse is present but weightless, less a beat than a reminder that time is still technically passing.

Its uses are all horizontal or nearly so. As chant ambient for sleep it lowers the room's gravity a few percent at a time until the day releases its grip. Facing a window it becomes scoring for stargazing, the orbital chapel lending the sky some borrowed liturgy. And as a floor for deep work it keeps the mind in that monastic middle state — occupied, unhurried, accountable to a schedule older than the task.

The track keeps its orbit inside the Dr.DIO catalogue, passing through the small hours of the 24/7 radio at drdio.studio once every rotation. A video version drifts onto the official Dr.DIO YouTube channel, porthole view and slow star-wheel included. Attendance remains optional, which is exactly why the few who show up keep coming back night after night.

Falling asleep under an open window, deep-night study sessions, stargazing from a rooftop, slow reading before the lights go out.
