The story

It opens low and wide, sub-bass pressure filling the room before anything else arrives. A mellotron choir drifts in behind it, ghostly and slow, like a memory of a room nobody's in anymore. The kick is soft-attack, almost polite, but it locks the pulse at 128 and doesn't let go.

The 16th-note arp enters as the spine of the track, cycling through D minor with a metallic FM edge, tightening and loosening as filters sweep across it. Detuned stabs punch in on the offbeats, dub-chord hits that add weight without clutter. Underneath, a reese sub rolls constant, warm and fat, doing the real work of the low end.

Past the midpoint the track strips down hard. Drums drop away, the pad and arp are left alone, almost euphoric in the space they're given. Then the acid 303 creeps in, squelching under the choir, and the sidechain starts pumping again as the groove reassembles itself, colder and more focused than before.

The close is haunting on purpose. Risers pull the energy up and away, layers peel back one by one, until only the arp and a thin mellotron thread remain — dark, minimal, and still hypnotic as the last bar fades.

Late-night drives, solo studio sessions, warehouse-style headphone listening, or the last hour before sleep when you want rhythm without noise.
