The story
It opens already submerged. A sub-bass tone sits under everything from the first second, a constant low pressure around 30-60Hz that never really lets go. Above it, granular pad textures drift in slow, uneven clouds, and something that sounds like a gregorian chant surfaces through a muted, underwater filter, as if the singers are one deck down and the hull is sealed.
The bass grows a body. Around 60-120Hz a warm, round low end fills in beneath the sub, giving the track a groove that never quite becomes a beat, more like something breathing at half speed. Low strings hold a slow ostinato, brass pulses underneath in long dark exhales, and a detuned bell rings out then decays into the reverb tail, swallowed before it fully resolves.
Percussion stays soft-attack throughout, rounded hits with no click, no edge, felt as pressure rather than heard as rhythm. A sonar ping cuts through occasionally, thin and clean against all that low-end weight, a single point of clarity in a mix built from fog. The crescendos build slowly, brass and pads swelling together until a sub-drop lands hard on the downbeat and the whole thing seems to sink another level.
By the final minute the chant has thinned to fragments, the bell decays get longer, and the sub-bass is the only constant left, still there under the fade. Nothing resolves cleanly. It just stops pressing, the way pressure eases when you finally surface.
