The story
The track opens on sub-bass alone, a constant low pressure that sits under everything else like the hum of a station hall after the last train has gone. A granular pad rises through it in slow, cloud-like swells, each grain slightly out of phase with the next, so the texture never quite repeats. There is no attack here, only accumulation.
Around the second minute the kit enters, dry and tight at first, then fracturing into chopped IDM patterns that skitter across the stereo field without ever rushing the tempo. Rim-clicks and shaker brush against the beat like dust catching a single slanted light beam. The half-time pulse keeps everything suspended rather than driven forward.
A synth lead takes the place a voice might occupy, phrasing long, bending notes through filter sweeps that open and close like slow breathing. Dub-chord stabs punctuate the space between phrases, softened by tape saturation so nothing bites. Underneath, the rolling psy-bass keeps a round, groovy motion even as the mix stays hushed.
By the final stretch the pad thins out, FM bell shimmers surface briefly, and the field-recording hiss becomes more audible as the drums fall away. The track ends the way it began, on sub-bass and reverb tail, as if the orbit simply continues past the edge of hearing.
