The story
The track opens low, almost inaudible at first — a sub-bass hum sitting between 30 and 60Hz that never really leaves for the next four minutes. It's less a note than a pressure, the kind you feel in the floor before you notice it in your ears. Around it, a generative modular drone starts to breathe, shifting texture in slow unpredictable waves, like the Make Noise patch is still deciding what shape to take.
By the first minute the half-time pulse settles in, round and warm, more felt than counted. Hand-played toms enter with a loose, human wobble, never quite locking to a grid, while droplets of glitch percussion tick like condensation falling on stone. A morin khuur line drifts through the mid-range with a steppe melancholy, bent and vocal, answered by metallic gamelan tones that scatter like struck bells losing their edges in reverb.
Past the midpoint the liquid DnB bass takes over the low end more directly — rolling, melodic, warm rather than aggressive, sliding under the drone instead of cutting through it. FM bell shimmers and granular star-cloud textures scatter overhead, giving the sense of something orbiting slowly rather than moving forward. A vocoded chant surfaces briefly, robotic and distant, more texture than voice.
The last stretch pulls back into open space. Reverse cymbal swells and ocean-drum waves wash the percussion out, the drone thins to a single held tone, and the sub-bass finally fades last, leaving the room quieter than it found it.
