The story
It opens on almost nothing: a hollow room-tone and a hum sitting under 60Hz, felt more than heard. The sub-bass holds steady while a vocoded choir-pad rises slow, breathy syllables smeared into vowels, less voice than weather. There's no click, no attack, just pressure building like cold air seeping under a door.
Around the first minute the alphorn enters, one long call answered by silence, and underneath it a warm 60-120Hz bass keeps a slow pulse alive, rounded and soft, never sharp. The percussion, when it arrives, is barely percussion at all — a felt thud, brushed and distant, propping up the atmosphere rather than driving it.
The solo violin takes the middle stretch, legato and unhurried, bending flat against the minor7 bed like it's asking a question it already knows the answer to. Harp glissandi fall through the mix like melting ice on glass, bright but never piercing, gone as soon as they land.
By the last minute everything thins back to drone: the chant fades, the alphorn's echo dissolves, and the sub-bass carries the track out alone, still holding, still there, like the door never actually closed.
